Cynthia Banks is a freelance Director, Producer and Writer with 25 years of experience in television documentary production and worldwide shooting experience.

Banks began her career as a documentary researcher in 1987 at CBC’s the Journal, produced short documentaries and full edition shows before becoming a Producer in the CBC Documentary Unit.

She founded Banks Productions Limited in 1995 and produced her first independent documentary. Shortly after, she became Series Producer at Life & Times, CBC’s Canadian biography series.

In 2002 Banks began directing, producing and writing full time as President of Banks Productions Limited. Her one-hour documentaries span a broad range of subject areas and have won awards internationally.

Banks has overseen documentary production for CBC Television, Discovery Channel, National Film Board and TV Ontario. Her independent docs have sold around the world in the broadcast and educational markets.

She holds a Bachelor of Arts in Radio and Television Arts from Ryerson University and graduated with the TV Guide Scholarship and Harry Sedgwick Award.

Her latest production Apocalypse 2012 aired recently on CBC's Doc Zone and is being sold around the world.
